Utah Math Innovation Grant Opportunity: Applications Due January 28

The STEM Action Center's Math Innovation Grant will provide $5 million in funding to Utah schools and districts to develop, implement, and/or enhance innovative math-focused programs designed to mitigate gaps that currently exist in math education.

These grants are a great way to support teachers, both financially and with professional support, during a difficult time.

And, there is no limit to the amount of funding you can request.

We encourage school and district leaders to apply today!

Wondering what type of project you might submit for an application?

One innovation The STEM Action Center strongly recommends for your grant application is a project with TeachFX.

TeachFX pairs its discourse-focused professional learning workshops with a unique and innovative app for teachers.

The app, developed by an education research team from Stanford University, uses voice AI to automatically surface insights from a teacher's own classroom.

Teachers get objective data and insights about a range of things, including discourse dynamics, lesson design, and high-leverage teaching practices like the use of open-ended questioning, wait time, and teacher uptake of student contributions.

The Research Supporting TeachFX

The insights TeachFX surfaces for teachers have proven extremely effective in large scale research trials

And TeachFX has been implemented with impressive results in schools and districts across the country, including here in Utah’s Jordan School District, where math teachers are working with TeachFX to increase equitable mathematical discourse.

See how TeachFX has helped educators in the Anaheim Union School District work towards their goal of 30% student talk time. Teachers find the eye-opening insights are helping them build a more reflective practice. And the district has rich data about which student groups are getting to speak, which aren’t, and trends over time.
